Father of two sons, Tacy Barbosa is a sensitive man with a passion for life. He has been married to Rosimar for more than 40 years and they work together in the workshop they have built at home. Theirs is a beautiful love story that began when Tacy was 17 and Rosimar was 13.
"What I do brings me great joy and pleasure, and what I do is create things that are different. I'm not interested in designing the standard handbag, so I look for inspiration in nature. By observing the tranquility and calm of a resting alligator, or the patience and long life of turtles, I start transforming leather into bags that replicate these animals.
"When I was a child I used to explore all sorts of materials and create my own toys. As I grew up I started crafting decorative items like swords and machetes.
"What I love most about working from home is that I get to spend time with my family, guiding my sons and teaching them life's true values. I am so proud of them! I have been very lucky to be able to be an autonomous and independent artisan and as such I have been is able to provide for my family.
"I love walking and watching the sunset. I think of people who spend part of the day in buses trying to get to work and it makes me wonder if they actually like the work they do? And then I praise the Lord and thank him for my life, which is simple but very happy.
"I enjoy the hand crafting process and I aim to preserve this serene way of working. I'm not tempted to mass produce, as if I were a factory. I think being associated with Novica is interesting and fun, because it allows us a greater contact with customers interested in us and our products."
